European Patent filings reached new record level in 2011

According to recent statistics from the European Patent Office (EPO), 243 000 European Patent Applications were filed to the EPO last year. This is a new record, and an increase by 3% as compared to the filings of 2010.

About 60% of the applications came from non-European countries.
